西藏著名表演艺术家扎西顿珠逝世，享年69岁

Tibetan famous performing artist Zaxi Tonzhu passed away at the age of 69. Zaxi Tonzhu was a national first-class actor of the Tibet Autonomous Region Drama Troupe. He was multitalented and known as "the Zhao Benshan of Tibet".

Born in the suburbs of Lhasa in 1956, Zaxi Tonzhu's family faced hardships since his mother passed away early and his father fell ill. At a young age, he shouldered the responsibility of supporting his family by working on the farm.

In the spring of 1977, the Tibet Song and Dance Troupe and the Tibet Drama Troupe recruited students from Lhasa suburbs, Shigatse, Nyingchi, and Linzhi. Zaxi Tonzhu went to take the exam and was eventually accepted into the Tibet Drama Troupe. That May, as a student of the third Tibetan performing class, he and more than 30 other students from the troupe arrived at the Shanghai Theatre Academy to begin their unforgettable learning journey.

After returning to Lhasa from Shanghai, the students of the third performance class gradually became the main performers of the Tibet Autonomous Region Drama Troupe. Since the early 1980s, they have made remarkable achievements in Tibetan drama and film. Besides Zaxi Tonzhu, this class also included many influential performing artists such as Doje, Loden, Dengyar, Nima, and Renwang, who gained prominence both in Tibet and across China.

Zaxi Tonzhu's acting career spanned nearly 40 years. He created countless classic roles, leaving a deep and memorable impression on the audience. He played lead roles in dramas like "Soul of Zongshan" and "Road to Sacred Land", films like "The Living Buddha" and "Songtsen Gampo", and TV series such as "Lhasa Memories", "Gedda Living Buddha", and "Dama's Oath".

Especially since the 1990s, he has performed many classic comic sketches. His portrayal of characters like "Rabba, the Alcoholic" became household names in Tibet, earning him the title "the Zhao Benshan of Tibet". Notably, the sketches starring him along with two other veteran actors from the drama troupe, Nima and Renwang, were highly anticipated highlights of the annual Tibetan New Year Gala. The trio was affectionately known as "the Iron Triangle" by the people.

In 1995, Zaxi Tonzhu won the Wenhua Performance Award at the Fifth National Wenhua Awards Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Culture. In 1997, he received the prestigious Plum Blossom Award for Chinese drama. In 2007, on the centenary of Chinese drama, the Chinese Dramatists Association awarded Zaxi Tonzhu the title "Outstanding Contributor to Drama Art".

He will be remembered for bringing joy to the world and leaving a lasting impression on our hearts.
